Biography:

I am a US qualified private client tax and estate planning attorney that works with clients across the United States and around the world to solve (and avoid) problems and provide legal counsel on all matters impacting their personal and business wealth. With a diverse professional background combining legal, tax and finance experience, I am uniquely positioned to advise families and their advisers on a broad range of legal and non-legal issues.

In counseling individuals, I provide innovative, solution-oriented planning related to wealth transfer, family governance, asset protection, and tax. I have experience in cross-border planning for international families and represent individuals seeking to establish domestic and foreign trusts or other structures to benefit family in the United States and beyond. I also regularly advise clients with multi-jurisdictional wealth structuring, including as it relates to investments into the United States, geared toward global tax efficiency and achieving non-tax goals (e.g., confidentiality and asset protection). Pre-immigration, expatriation and global mobility (passports) planning are also integral areas of my practice.

With respect to family offices, fiduciaries and financial institutions, I often undertakes the role of outside general counsel and advise on anything from family office or private trust company formation and operation to tax efficiency and regulatory compliance issues. As part of my work in this context, I routinely retain or work with my clients' existing local counsel to provide efficient and coordinated multi-jurisdictional guidance.

Before joining Withers, I resided in and maintained a broad-based private client practice in Zurich, Switzerland. My legal career began in Miami, Florida, and I still counsel clients based in Florida or who are transitioning from Florida to Texas, or vice versa, or from other states or countries to either Florida or Texas, with regard to their personal and business planning.
